What kind of details can you share about the weekend?

Refresh is an overnight retreat in Maryville, TN that will be held from Friday afternoon September 15th through Sunday morning September 17th. We will have some amazing women sharing about parenting the hearts of children from hard places, and we are also blessed with mom leaders that will be hosting discussion groups you won’t want to miss. More details to come.

What kind of lodging is available?

We have reserved the Eagle Rock Retreat Center cozy and tucked away in the beautiful mountains near Gatlinburg, TN. Rooms may include bunk beds, a queen bed and all have a full bathroom attached. Lodging is first come first serve. Each room has a balcony to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It’s our prayer that each one of these rooms are filled with moms and our retreat is totally sold out (literally and figuratively, to our Heavenly Father). This is a great opportunity to get away, be encouraged and have fun. Be prepared for late night chatter, bonding over the shared experience of our children, and being able to let our guards down and grow. to get away, be encouraged and have fun. I’m local – do I have to stay overnight?

We want you to have FUN, and would prefer to not worry about you commuting back and forth. We also want you to take some time for yourself so we highly recommend you stay overnight because we believe you will reap the greatest benefit that way. That said, it is not mandatory.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the retreat is $50. This pricing includes everything from the moment you step in the door to the moment you leave – all meals, lodging, and special treats. We want you to come and we tried to make it as affordable as possible… our only intention is to break even.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to the event?

There is a parking lot at the lodge, but we recommend car pooling, not only for the environment but because you can start the weekend off with a fun girls car ride!

What is the refund policy?

We are unable to handle refunds this year. If you need to transfer your registration to another mom, please contact Melissa Cox at melissa@compassioncloset.com.

Will you have Vegetarian, Gluten Free and Dairy Free food options?

Yes, please let us know at registration that you have special dietary restrictions and which ones so we can accommodate you.

May I bring my spouse/child/mom/sister/ friend?

Accepted Answer

Our retreat is intended for adoptive/foster/kinship moms or to-be adoptive/foster/kinship moms. Our intention is for women to feel comfortable letting it all hang out in their sweats for the weekend (if that’s your thing), and that becomes difficult when spouses and children are also in tow. If you are newly home and bonding with your child, then this is probably not the right environment for your little one, anyhow. It’s healthy for your kids to know that their momma takes care of herself, and always comes back! Remember, attachment with dad is important too!

We will be emailing all participants as well as inviting you to our closed Facebook group where we will be sharing the schedule, sessions and details.
